Picasa your Photo Manager
Picasa is free software that manages photos on your PC. It helps in performing the functions like finding, editing and sharing the photos on your PC. First organize your visual folders by date, name or size. Picasa has a unique feature by which it locates and sorts out the photos into respective visual folders. This function is applicable for the photos you may have forgotten. For arranging the folders use drag and drop facility. Make albums as you wish by creating new groups. When is Picasa Version 1 gets listed in Google Updater’s “Installed Software” tab?
Right at the moment Google Updater is able to support only Picasa Version 2 and above. If your PC has Picasa version 1 installed, Google Updater does not recognize that version. Sorry for the confusion if any.
Getting Started Picasa
Google offers this free photo management software called Picasa. Find, edit and share the photos you have stored in your computer in a flash of a moment. I t is highly recommended to print brief overview of Picasa’s special features. As you are using Picasa for the first time we request you to consult it so that it becomes easy to learn new features.
One of the special feature of Picasa is, it is useful in finding and organizing all the photos on the PC. It can find and organize movie type files like WMV, AVI, ASF, MOV and MPG. Photo type files like BMP, GIF, PSD, JPG, RAW, TIF can also be accessed and organized through Picasa. Now while changing from older version of Picasa to a newer one, you want to retain your database, which definitely includes photos that are already organized and edited by you. While installing a new version of Picasa, do not uninstall the older one on your computer. With the first launch of a new version you are prompted to transfer all the existing information. Once the entire existing database is thus transferred you are free to uninstall your older version of Picasa.
Picasa has a unique feature of automatically organizing all the movie files and photos. It does so into collection of folders that are inside the main library view.
You can see a list on the left hand side in the library view. It contains all the folders, which consist of the albums and the photos that are created in Picasa. These photos and albums are grouped in to collections. By default, these are sorted on the basis of the date on which they are created. If you want to change the basis of the sorting go to “View” > “Folder view”.
