Alternatively, the second one is the use of this knowledge in improving the performance of the website of the publisher for increasing his revenue. There are two kinds’ channels that are available with the different purposes. They are the URL channels, and the second ones are the Custom channels.
A)The URL channels,
These channels help in tracking the performance of the website for an entire domain, for the sub-domains within the directories, and for the individual pages, too. Thus, they can provide you the important information about the domains, which are creating the most revenue for you, and the performance of ads on the different portions or the pages of the website.
Creating a URL Channels,
The creation of the URL channels is a very easy task. You can create a URL channel from your AdSense account. The procedure for this is as given under,
a)Open your account and then select the AdSense Setup tab.
b)Then select the Channels link that is present in the list that appears on the clicking of the ‘AdSense Setup’ tab.
c) Carefully, select the sub-tab for the right product. That means, select carefully whether the product is the AdSense from content and the AdSense for search. Moreover, be careful while marking, whether you want to create a custom channel or URL channel.
d) Then lastly click the ‘Add new URL channel’ link and add or create the channels for each of the directories, which you wish to track. While entering their names you should not enter the ‘www’ before their name.

You can track the performance of the sub-domains by just typing in the name without the previous ‘www’. This will enable the channels to track all the sub-domains for that top domain. Alternatively, if you enter the name along with the ‘www’, the channel will track only the performance for the top domain.
Renaming the URL channel,
The Google AdSense cannot provide the facility of renaming the URL channels at this movement. Instead of renaming the channel, you can delete the existing channel and then make a new channel for the same purpose, form your account. The deactivation of the channel requires the following steps.
a)Open your account and select the ‘AdSense Setup’ tab.
b)Then select the ‘channels’ link and select the product, and the ‘URL channel’ option from the list.
c)Then select the channels which you wish to deactivate.
d)Then click the upper left of the page and a dropdown menu appears. From it, select the ‘Deactivate checked’ or alternatively ‘Remove checked’. The Google AdSense does not count the deleted channels, and you can reactivate them at any time.
Whether the URL channels provide the data for the performances in the history,
The work of the channels begins from the time you create them, and they have an aim to give you the data, for the performances from the time when you create them. Therefore, they cannot provide the historical data for the pages or the ads.
However, the new channel that you create for a URL, for which you had created a channel in the past, will provide the data that the previous channel collected.
The Google also provides you the facility for viewing the data, for your dealings and transactions with the AdSense program, right from the joining time. For this, you just need to select options of ‘all time’ that is available in the ‘Date range’ selection box on the ‘Advanced Reports’ page.
